Dear Volunteers and Users of the Ironton Rail-Trail,
We hope you like the improvements being made to the Rail-Trail.
A workday is scheduled for this Saturday December 9 to clear the sides of the trail loop of fallen tree limbs and debris. The clearing of debris not only provides a safety zone, but will also be preparation for our winter project to build up the sides of the trail out at least 2 feet with fill, further improving safety and reducing maintenance of the asphalt surface. Coplay Borough and Whitehall Township will each provide a wood chipper for the workday.
Please meet at the Main Trailhead where our new pavilion is located, at the intersection of Chestnut St, N. Ruch St, and W. Coplay Rd.
There will be 2 groups of volunteers. You may pick which group you want to work on.
8 am The first group will meet and clear the trail toward Stiles and Hokendauqua.
9 am The second group will meet and clear the trail toward Coplay and along the Lehigh River.
You may be redirected to the other group to even out the workforce.
Please email me if you will join us so I can get an estimate of manpower available (and amount of coffee and donuts to bring). This is an excellent opportunity to meet fellow volunteers of the IRT and share your common interest of the Trail. It will be a fun day. Bring a friend.
