So I've been toying wiht the idea of getting one of those new led systems. My homebrewed halogen is nice and plenty bright, but I want longer run times. Swapping out NiCad RC batteries every 45 minutes midride for my helmet lite is a PITA.
Anyways, I found a non-name setup using one Cree P4 led that claims to push out 8000 lux with a 7.4v battery. I assume this is about 320 lumens. The Ay-up lights use 2 Cree P4 leds with 7.4v batteries and they claim it also pushes out 8000 lux and 320 lumens. Are the no-name guys claiming incorrectly, or is there a diference in the leds or something else?
Ay-up price is like $190. No-name guys price is about $120, including Li-Polymer battery with claimed run time of 8hrs. Worth it or is there some hidden fault with the led they are not telling me? So my question is for Dan really since I think he has experience (or at least an opinion) with the Cree leds, but if anyone else has input, please share it!
