Shawnee State Park Bike Safe Day

Date:
Sunday, May 17, 2009 - 8:00am to 4:00pm

I am passing this message on from Michael Mucker / Tammy Strayer / LHORBA:

On Sunday May 17, Shawnee State Park will be holding its first safe bike day. This day is designed to introduce citizens to biking in the state park, while keeping them safe. We will be having trail rides for beginners and experienced riders. Lessons will be given on basic trail riding, mountain biking and trail emergencies (mechanical issues.) In addition to State Park staff, lessons will be given by experienced riders from the Laurel Highland Off Road (On-Road) Biking Association (LHORBA). They will also create a mountain bike obstacle course for you to try. Local businesses such as Fat Jimmy's Outfitters in Bedford will be bringing rental bikes in and providing free bike rentals. So bring your bikes and family and join a "wheelie" fun day.

Schedule of Events

8:00 - 10:00 - Riding the Trails (trail riding basics followed by a ride along the Lake Shore Trail

10:00 - 12:00 - Mountain Biking for Beginners followed by a chance to try the obstacle course.
