Snow, Sals and the Single Speed

The trail gods were watching Joe and I tonight. You wouldn't think riding in the snow at sals in 16 Degree temps would be pleasant, but I think this may be the best ride in 07 so far. Joe and I rolled out of dodson for a reverse loop, surprisingly our tires were hooking up extremely well on the inch of snow from this weekend. Even on the single speed, it was a rare occurence that my tires would spin out. By the time we reached Constitution we were well warmed up and you really wouldn't know that it was 16 Degrees out, As we made our way to the switch back I noticed a light flying around in the woods. We opted to wait a bit, but it didnt look like the light was headed our way. We got to the top of the switch back and began our Descent. We flew down the snow covered switch back breaking through the light fluff of snow which seemed to smooth things out a bit and made for an awesome downhill-High Fives were exchanged as we were both overwhelmed by how enjoyable the decent was. After our little celebration the light returned, this time coming down the switch back...It was Matt H, he must of just missed us in the lot at dodson and was chasing our tracks down ever since. Only in the the Valley can you strap a light onto your head and go ride your bike in the woods, then run into some other wack job in the woods with a light strapped on his head....We road into the night and for 2 hours on a cold February night, there was no work, no responsibilities-Just the trail and a few new friends.
