Spent the weekend riding down on the York River Peninsula (Richmond out to Newport News). The EVMA has built some really cool singletrack parks down there. Check out EVMA.ORG . Their website isn't as cool as ours!
The landscape down there is small ravines and lots of them, bottom to top elev 30 to 40 ft max. They did an excellent job of trail layout and, particularly York River, an amazing ton of gravity dip trails-----you know-- scream on down the trail and momentum takes you almost up the other side of the ravine. The trail systems could be much longer, but hey...FUN & REALLY COOL! They did an excellent job with what they have.
Oh, by the way, It was sunny and 50 degree riding there!
At New Quarter Park, EVMA built a stunt section right next to the Park Office. 2 stunts were 3 ft wide, one was elevated at least 6 ft . One stunt was aprox 6 inches wide and elevated 2 to 3ft. All three were at least 100ft long.
My heart was pounding on the skinny one, it was curved and at my limit of riding that stuff. I did half of it and almost came off. Didn't want to test my Health Insurance. Soft landing if you dont hit the boardwalk or your bike on the way down.
