Since I am laid up recovering this website is my only escape from mental healing. Anyway, last winter, it seemed as though there were way more posts about getting into the woods to do trail building and maintenance all over the valley. The cistern over at SME was being built almost at the same time the Girly Man was being finished at Sals, plus every once in a while a few folks would get up to SMB to do some maintenance.
This winter I see more peeps posting rides than ever. That's cool, because it means that they aren't letting the elements get in the way of their rides. You gotta love that.
So far the only trail building that is going on is up at Trex, which is awesome; but, just like the Girly Man, it is the same 4 or 5 people that do all of the work, and I'm not one of them. (but, damn, I wish I could be).
Plus, I haven't noticed Dave (guitarswheelies) post too many trail work days lately. Is he feeling OK. This is his time of year.
Riding is by far more fun to do than build, but we all know that if we don't put in some get dirty time then the trails suffer; therefore so does our riding fun. I'm not suggesting peeps stop riding over the winter, but maybe do a 1:1 ratio for the winter. 1 day of trail work for every 1 day of riding. Is that fair.
Last thought, I am in no way trying to make people feel guilty about riding their bike. I'm just hoping to excite people to help build something that will last forever and have a fingerprint of your efforts.
Happy New Year
