Ok, so there has been a fair amount of talk about lights lately. If there is enough interest, I would be willing to spec out and source the correct parts needed to make some very nice homemade LED lights. Basically it would look something like this per light
2 220+ lumen Cree LED's ($20)
2 ledil lenses ($10)
1 'buck puck' driver ($15)
1 11.1 4400mah battery pack ($54)
1 charger ($25)
1 connector wire ($4)
1 tube arctic silver thermal adhesive ($15)
What you would need to take care of-
Housing (this spec would fit nicely into 1" aluminum tubing)
A switch to turn it on/off
Mount (a way to put this on your helmet or bars)
Assembly (typically need a dremel, a drill, and a soldering iron)
Some wire and shrink-tubing if you like everything to look nice
So for about $160-$170 in supplies, a little ingenuity, and a little work you could have a 440+ lumen light with about 6 hours of burn time. Figure it this way, 10W HID is about 500 lumen, so this would be similar in brightness. Anyone interested?
