hiked over to the creek from Dodson today. This time john was over there and we looked at some more lines in the creek area. Now its down to only one small dtwtftd area above the powerline. John, surprisingly came up with a pretty cool line near the yellow bridge. This in conjunction with what Joe and I came up with the other day makes it look totally do-able.
So, the flagging will start soon in this area and then the interested parties can give it a look and see if we start on this trail towards the end of september.
I'm pretty impressed at how scenic and interesting the creek area is and having a trail go through this stuff will really alter your mental picture of Sals(spice bush forest where one of those jet scooters from Star Wars 3 could go zooming by). Kind of has a South mtn emmaus vibe i.e. big stuff like rocks-woods-slopes-creek.
Another thing I noticed is also an option available to extend the holy roller/split rock trail a bit. There is a 180 or two in this section that could be changed to having the trail loop back further for more distance.This area has great dirt so anything extra we stick in will really roll. Maybe when the leaves drop we can check the Rob #2 factor.
