Just starting out ...

Hello everyone. I'm just starting out doing any biking for the first time in years. I'm picking it up for a variety of reasons, but the main few are because I quit smoking a couple months ago (it's amazing how much time you sit around bored that you would've otherwise spent with cigarettes), I figure it would be a great way of getting exercise, and I love outdoor activities anyway. I guess I'm in fairly decent shape considering I only just quit a couple months ago. Of the two days I've had my bike going again, I rode at least 10 miles going to Jordan Parkway and riding around there and back, and a little less today running errands like returning blockbuster rentals. That said, I now have two days worth of experience.

I figure I'll work on getting my stamina up, but after that, are any of the rides good for someone that doesn't have all the technical skills? At Jordan, there were only two places I found that I didn't even want to try, and that was because I didn't have any safety equipment. I wasn't really expecting anything rough.

Also, if it means anything as far as what I would/wouldn't be able to ride, my bike is rather old and doesn't have any suspension. Doesn't really bother me, but I don't know if it's required for really rough stuff, or just makes it nicer.

Thanks in advance.

Dan
