Another groovy trail idea for Sals

I spent some time hiking the "no man's land"today over sat Sals, as John E calls it.

Of course, I'm so inspired by this terrain and vibe that I want to build a trail there. Hopefully the club will show interest in this trail idea and eventually decide to go ahead with it.

I'm talking about the area below the big rock you all stop at when you do all the climbing on the ridge-up the spanky, then up the switchbacks, to the the top past the little switchback and the climbing rock garden to the big rock where you stop and spit out a lung.

This trail would turn right before the rock, head back towards Consti, then hook back towards Allentown. It would be easy to make this section "challenging" as most everyone would drop off here. The cool part is that there is a giant rock slide we would eventually cut across, after a huge sideways "U" or "V" shaped section. This rock slide is maybe 80 feet wide, 200 feet long and at a 40 degree slope. Then maybe switchback down a drop some more and past some really big rocks. This whole area has lots of rock all over he place, huge trees and not that much spice bush. Then we would climb up parallel to the ridge and hook into the 200 feet that already done and pop out back to the rock.

This would be a challenging side loop addition to the ridge trail. There would be LOTS of work required, mostly good old benchcutting as the side slope is really steep.

So that's about it for now. I hope to have this flagged where you can check it out in a few weeks. If anyone wants to hike around over there let me know.
