May 19 -- Natural History Hike from Lehigh Furnace Gap to Lehigh Gap, 9:00 a.m.

Date:
Monday, May 19, 2008 - 9:00am

This is a hike that the Lehigh Gap Nature Center is doing 5/19 on the Appalachian Trail.

The LGNC is the headquartered at Lehigh Gap on the Blue Mtn and they have been successfully restoring the North side of the blue west of the gap. The emissions from the zinc pant killed most of the plants over the years and they are using native prairie grasses to restore the soil.

From what I remember hearing them talk about this should be pretty interesting. There are other activities from time to time at the LGNC. You can bike along the lower rail trail, and there are lots of hiking trails that go all the way up to the top where the AT is.
