New Years day Ride

I want to thank all of you at VMB for making my New Years ride a spectacular one to remember.
It started with a riding partner of Kevin calling me New Years Eve to go for a ride in the morning. 7am.New Years Day Ughh! I got home from my festive evening and looked at the Weather Channel. Unpromisingly it looked like this ride would'nt even happen.

At 6:30am I got the call and met Kevin outside in the rain and sleeting snow. We in Stroudsburg are a sort of die hard bunch. Nevertheless we came out to Salisbury to try and ride. We did'nt know what to expect,I've only seen fotos on your site of sals, other than that is was your hallowed ground to say the least. It was raining when we got there.

We had a small group, consisting of mainly downhill racers. We met up at the graham dr dead end. which seemed to be the best spot to get the goods . An epic climb with many awesome benched in switchbacks. The ride along the ridge was really nice too. Flowing thru the red oaks throughout the entire pursuit. The blue trail was definitely my favorite!!!! The rock garden lines were awesome. Alot of time went in here to form the lines that made it so addictive. We actually stopped there and sessioned them a few times. I really enjoyed the one that leads to a small creek crossing . I also would like to thank whomever it was that took the time to cut and split wood and install it into the ground in the soft spots. I have'nt seen that in a while but it makes a great way to handle the days like yesterday with minimal erosion.
We rode the red, the blue, the orange, the yellow, we even hiked up and checkout out the new trail your making above the blue trail it looks great.
The last bit of trail we rode was near st. lukes and back that stretch was alot of fun, with a bit of dips, and turns and awesome traverses and into the berms thatreally put the icing on the cake for me. Great job!

We ended up back at the trucks after a long traverse, and looked like muddy baboons after a long run thru the rain forest....HA!
There were several spots we had to climb over trees that are down, especially in the orange trail area mostly red oaks and a big birch tree (probably fallen from gypsy moths). If you would like us to help out and do some work, we all agreed to come down sometime and thin out these trees and split them into more pieces for you and the other crews to work with. If that's ok with you. We have a network of trails up here that we manage and it is hard for us to get out and help everyone. But we thought if anything we could do this. If you'd like to plan a time to meet and getr' done. Let me know.

We all had a great time at Sals and now understand why you all speak so highly of it. It has all the features and disciplines packed into one punch of trails....

Happy New Years
