Meeting on Preservation of South Mountain

Date:
Monday, December 10, 2007 - 7:00pm to 10:00pm

Notice of Important Public Hearing
Are you…..
-in favor of the conservation of South Mountain?
-worried about the effects on our community of more development?
-wondering why Salisbury Twp. isn’t showing more active leadership in preserving open space?
If so….
-please attend the upcoming State Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP) public hearing concerning the Southbury Park development on 100 acres of the Mountain that Salisbury Twp. Commissioners have not only approved but which had been granted a variance that citizens were forced to challenge in court where a judge deemed it an “abuse of discretion”
What…...DEP hearing to solicit public comment and concerns
When…..Monday evening, December 10th at 7:00PM
Where….Salisbury Township High School Auditorium
Why….
-because the highlands of South Mountain are a natural resource that Federal and State Agencies have named as worthy of conservation
-because you wonder why your Twp. Commissioners seem prone to drag their feet on protecting our valuable open space…..one of the top concerns of Lehigh Valley residents
-because you believe that more development on environmentally sensitive land is unwise
-because you feel a responsibility toward the inheritance we leave future generations, not today’s privileged interests
-because you’re concerned about the potential for more flooding in the area and the degradation of Trout Creek, one of the state’s few remaining high quality streams
Many concerned organizations plan to testify. But your attendance is essential to fully demonstrate the high level of public concern about the impact of this development.
So, please attend ……...and bring your neighbors too!
