The Wildlands Conservancy has approved a new trail at South Mountain Emmaus. Work is just getting started. Here are details from Mark Bowman for the first group work day, this Sunday.

Give yourself the gift of a new trail for the holidays! The Wildlands Conservancy has approved a new 1.8 mile trail to be built at their South Mountain Preserve in Emmaus, PA. The trail has been flagged and is ready for construction. This will be a great addition the the current trail system. It is located at the very top of the preserve, on the other side of the power line from the exisiting Mountain Top Trail (yellow blazes). If you can attend, please bring tools capable of removing small brush and trees (specifically hand clippers and lopers, hand saws and small chain saws). At this point, no dirt will need to be moved.

Directions: From Main st in Emmaus, take South 2nd St. (which turns into Chestnut Hill Rd), past the gun club, past Oak Hill, turning left onto the dirt road at the sign saying "239 Chestnut Hill Rd". Do not go to the house that is at 239, instead stay right all the way to the end of the dirt rd (there is a house there). Please do not park anyone in or block the road. If you come after 9AM, follow the ribbon through the field behind the house to locate the trail work. It is a 10 minute hike.
