VMB's officers have opened the recommendation process to appoint the 2013 Board. Members are free to recommend either themselves or to propose others to serve from April 1, 2013 until March 31, 2014. The Board is comprised of these five appointees and the four elected officers.
Members must PM me their recommendations between December 16th, 2012 and February 1st, 2014. I will then submit these individuals' names to the officers for consideration under the VMB by-laws which require that the officers' subsequent Board appointments be subject to membership approval.
Officers' Board criteria will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1.) Being a strong advocate of mountain biking and the trail systems making our sport possible.
2.) Some type of institutional knowledge involving government relations, grant writing, past VMB officer and/or Board experience, service on other organizations' boards, etc.
3.) Preferably, some current degree of activity within VMB involving organizing its social activities, participation in trailbuilding, and/or Board/General membership meeting attendance.
4.) Availability to attend regularly-scheduled meetings customarily planned for the last Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M.
VMB's 2013 agenda looks to be an extremely busy and productive one including the possible addition of Lehigh as a VMB trail system, additional construction/maintenance projects at Nockamixon and Trexler, and the likely development/continuance of various social activites on the VMB calendar. The new Board will play an integral role in all of these exciting projects.
