Reminiscent of simpler times.

So this is something I think about from time to time. Seems like my ride is very dependent on all the electronic gadgets I can have. If I forget my music or the ipod's not charged the ride stinks. Without my garmin I'm bummed, forget my heart rate monitor strap and I'm lost, forget the camera and I see everything I'd like to take a picture of. Those are just carry on problems. The bikes take two, three, times longer to get ready as well. "How's my fork pressure?" "Hows my shock pressure?" "Gee, it's cold out, I need to open up my compression and rebound?" AHHHHHH!!!!
So now my xc bike weighs 40lbs (no lie, but that's how I want it), My camelback is typically 10-12 lbs, and I'm loaded up with all this gear that weighs??? My mind drifts back to simpler times....to my chromoly Diamond Back Apex, with cantilever brakes, Manitou II Elastomer suspension (rebound, we didn't need no stinkn rebound), and 7 speed.
All I needed was a helmet and I was out the door.

For those who can relate, I hope you feel as lucky as I do. Evolving and growing with such a wonderful sport. Enjoying what has been, and looking forward to what has yet to be.

Bikes!!!
