So I ride the road, too. One of my pet peeves over the years is free running dogs that chase bikers right into the street. Owners are continually non-chalant or just plain ignorant.
I was riding in rural upper Bucks yesterday just kind of cranking along and a huge pit bull popped out from behind a hedge. I slammed full force into the attacking dog and was on the ground before I knew what happened. With a stabbing pain in my shoulder I looked at my twisted bike, the nasty POS dog getting up, and another dog, a very large Rottweiler, running to attack me as well. Great fun. After a few more expletive filled shouts the owner came out and retrieved the dogs.
I sat on the side of the road to take inventory only to have the dogs run back out!!! Oh boy was I mad!
So I called my wife to come and pick me up and stood out there waiting. I FINALLY got an apology and I was able to calmly say thanks.
Went to to the hospital to rule out breaks, etc. Seems like no major damage. Got a arm sling for a few days and vitamin "I", my old friend.
Please control your dogs. This is how people get hurt and dogs end up dead.
